Who We Are

Emmanuel

First and foremost, we are disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus by the power of “God with us” (EMMANUEL). As such, we organize ourselves according to Holy Scripture under the authority of the Lord Jesus for the glory of God.

Reformed

We continually examine ourselves in order to align ourselves, reform ourselves, more and more to the standards of Christ Jesus as expressed in Scripture. As wise and helpful summaries of Scripture, we subscribe to the creeds of the global Church, and the confessions of the Reformed Church — the Apostle’s Creed, the Athanasian Creed, and the Nicene Creed; and the Heidelberg Catechism (1563), the Belgic Confession (1561), and the Canons of Dort (1619).

A Partner in the Alliance of Reformed Churches

We are affiliated with the Alliance of Reformed Churches for the purposes of accountability, support, and missional equipping.

A Midwest Network Church

Within the Alliance, we are part of the Midwest Network, a geographical network that includes churches in North and South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and beyond.

Church

We are a local expression of the global Church, members and ambassadors of Christ Jesus.

As a Reformed congregation, we follow a presbyterian structure, meaning our church is governed by a consistory.

The consistory is the leadership team or board of Emmanuel, and its members are elected to their offices by the congregation. The consistory of Emmanuel Reformed consists of 6 elders and 6 deacons, along with the pastor. The consistory meets every third Monday evening of the month.
