Our worship is focused on God’s Word:
We approach God’s Word…
The beginning of our worship service includes God’s welcome and assurance of his grace from Scripture. We respond with hymns of praise and prayers of repentance. We prepare our hearts and minds, confess our sins, and receive God’s forgiveness and grace.
We attend to God’s Word…
At the heart of our worship is the reading of Scripture and the sermon, which we hear reverently and expectantly. We believe that the Word read and preached is the way Jesus Christ draws near to us as the Word made flesh.
We celebrate the sacrament of communion together on the first Sundays of every month, which is God’s Word signified to us in the bread and the cup.
We respond to God’s Word…
The remainder of the worship service, and the entire week that follows, is our grateful, joyful response to God’s Word. We commit ourselves to “be doers of the word, and not hearers only” (James 1:22, ESV).
