This is the third sermon in the “For Good” preaching series, preached on May 19, 2019.
Read the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14-30.
Reflect:
Q. This week, are you more aware of God’s abundance in your life, or the world’s scarcity? Have you been living more from a place of trust, or fear?
Q. What does it mean for you (or for your family), that what you have has been entrusted to you by God for His purposes? What do you need to do, if your stuff, your kids, your house, your money all belong to God, and He has a plan for them? How will you hold them the way God holds them?
Practice:
> This week, make a list of all the blessings that God has given you. Add to it whenever you think of something new you’re thankful for. Put the list somewhere prominent in your home. Try making it a family project, asking everyone to add something each day.
> At the end of the week, read through your list of blessings. Prayerfully take your time thanking God for them. Consider your mood at the end of the week, as compared to your mood from a week ago. How has your attitude or outlook been impacted by this gratitude project?
> Before the next week begins, find one or two items on your list of blessings, and ask God to show you a specific way that He wants you to use, or care for, or share that blessing this coming week.
