Emmanuel Family!

This coming Sunday (November 29, 2020) is the first Sunday of Advent, the worship season that comes before Christmas.

Many of us are hunkering down again, seeing the pandemic hitting closer to home. I want to invite you — especially if you’re parents with young kids at home — to consider adding some kind of Advent devotion to your holiday celebrations.

Here are two good options.

Weekly: Advent Candles (or Nativity)

If you’re interested in doing something once a week, I’ve written a home Advent Candle guide for your family. This will require some preparation and purchasing, if you don’t have your own Advent candle set. The downloadable guide includes Amazon links in it for some affordable options for your family.

Daily: Jesse Tree Devotions

If you’re looking for something more in-depth, maybe for some older kids, I recommend checking out the Jesse Tree devotional. It functions like an Advent Calendar, where you add an ornament to a tree or branch (or a door or fridge) each day, and each ornament’s symbolic image reminds us of a part of Jesus’ lineage.

I pray God blesses you during this Advent season, and that your family encounters the good news of Christmas in a fresh way.
